A beacon of hope, in the darkest hours.
Tonight, the sun will set on moms and dads across Columbus who open an eviction notice after the kids have fallen asleep, on sons and daughters who couldn’t bathe because the water has been cut off, and families who hope tomorrow there will be enough food on the table. In the darkness, shame can feel like isolation, and fear can give way to despair.
Before the Dawn is a promise, commitment, and embrace.
A promise to hold steady the light of hope and God’s tender mercy through Outreach’s emergency assistance programs and intentional prayer.
A commitment to monthly giving of $83.33 which provides a predictable flow of income, allowing Outreach to meet urgent needs with confidence.
An embrace that reminds each of our neighbors living in crisis that they don’t have to face the darkness alone.
In the tender compassion of our God,
the dawn on high shall break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness…
Luke 1:78-79
Why monthly giving matters.
Nonprofits serve people in real time, but funding often arrives unpredictably. One month may be strong; the next may be uncertain. That uncertainty makes it harder to plan, respond quickly, and act with confidence when needs arise.
Monthly commitments change that.
When supporters pledge a set amount over the course of a year, it creates a reliable, predictable flow of support. This stability allows Outreach to plan ahead, steward resources wisely, and respond when neighbors are facing hardship with clarity rather than caution.
Monthly commitments don’t just fund programs—they strengthen the foundation that allows hope to remain steady, even when circumstances are not.
Meet Leah. A single mother who, after being shot multiple times and spending months in the hospital fighting for her life, returned home to an eviction notice. Outreach was able to step in and pay her rent so that she could focus on regaining her strength and ability to work as the sole provider for her five children. The displacement of eviction and subsequent homelessness would have been a devastating trauma for these children who had already endured so much.
Meet the Jacksons. A young military family newly stationed at Fort Benning has to travel back and forth to an Atlanta hospital for their medically fragile daughter. Gas and overnight stays have made it very difficult for them to afford food for their family at the end of each month. Outreach was able to step in and help this family with emergency groceries.
